Where Has Summer Gone?

Well it is very cool here today (Sept. 12th) and no sun. We have had a very busy season, but a short one. Roger and I have decided to go on a Hawaiian cruise in January (actually I decided and told him he was either in or out).

Last Saturday we held our 2nd Annual Paul Commodore ATV Poker Run for cancer and raised over $3800 ~ what a day. Tremendous support from our ATV Lovers and businesses who sponsored our prizes. The Bell Canada friends of Paul's looked after the BBQ and it was tremendous.
I have been asked by my friends at the Thousand Islands Quilter's Guild to display one of my larger quilts at the Upper Canada Fall Showcase next weekend. I am really looking forward to this and have to decide if it will be my Flying Geese Quilt or my Rose in a Log Cabin Quilt.

It has been a very interesting week. As most know, we here in Eastern Ontario, Canada, have had rain now for about six weeks (almost every day). This week was horrendous. I babysat for Joe and Barbara in Kemptville and unfortunately locked myself and Miss Lilly out of the house on Tuesday in yet another downpour of rain. Thank goodness I had my purse over my shoulder and with my credit card purchased enough chow for Miss Lilly and headed to Mallorytown. Lilly loved all the attention.

I am now sick with a cold from the soaking I took and also ATVing in the rain. We seem to be very busy in this part of the woods. I just hope it continues to make up for the down slide in business we have been experiencing.

This past week we have had clients from Switzerland, Germany, Mexico City, Iran, Jamaica, Australia, Tennessee, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, New York, and many, many more. We meet a lot of people in this business.

Miss Lilly's Christening

We finally had beautiful weather for the weekend. Lilly, Joe & Barbara's 6 month old daughter was christened in Mallorytown United Church. Roger could not go to Kemptville for the celebration as there were 12 people at the ATV Coffee Run, but I took Mom and Barbara had a very nice reception. Unfortunately it rained in their back yard in the afternoon, but I don't think anywhere else.

Saturday was our Church Sunday School yard sale and we had a great time and made over $300. I will be glad when life slows down. Not sure when this is going to happen.

My long awaited Quiltfest starts on Friday. I am ready for the big event ~ all quilts (4) and wall hangings (2) are ready and bagged. I am working on Thursday and Friday, so hopefully we will have great weather ~ not too hot though. LOL.

The Loss of a Friend

This is a sad day today. Our dear friend Fred McNeely passed away. Fred is a retired farmer who just moved to a smaller home (beautiful though) and just could not cope with life's changes. RIP Fred.

Today is the day that I ventured beyond and created a Blog. I have been wanting to do so for some time. Very intimidating, but fun.
